Big Scenes: an exhibition by Marco Sanges

Hackney Empire presents the visionary world of the Italian photographer Marco Sanges. Every sequence tells a unique, multi-layered story, creating a highly personal, imaginary cinema.  On 11 February, the preview night there will be a live installation co-devised with director Alberto Bona. Special guests include controversial artist Gavin Turk and legendary composer Michael Nyman, whose music will be specially performed live by a string quartet.

Marco Sanges's works are narrative based, always evoking a feeling of mystery and the sense of a sensual, uncanny world just out of grasp. Sanges is an imaginative and innovative photographer who has exhibited worldwide. Marco's clients include Vogue, Sunday Telegraph, Trace, Elle, Creative Review, Downtown, The Pozytyv, Zoom, Head, B&W Photo, Katalog, Dolce&Gabbana, Eyemazing. Books include: Circumstances,Venus, Wild, and Erotic Photography. Previous exhibitions include: ‘Savile Row' at B-Store, 'Purity' at Cobden Club, ‘Hidden Light' at ICI and ‘Enigma' at Arte Fiera, Jonathan Cooper Park Walk Gallery, British Art Fair, Art London, The London Art Fair. Awards include Best Art Film at the Portobello Film Festival 2008 for the short Circumstances.
