Not many people realise that we’re a charity founded by Hackney residents.
In the mid-eighties, local people were anxious to preserve this beautiful listed building and ensure the communities of East London and beyond could access the very best in performing arts.
We receive only 19% of our income in public sector grants. Just to sustain our programme and keep the doors open we need to bring in at least £2.5 million each year from box office, trading and fundraising. No easy task in the current climate.
We’d be very pleased to discuss your ideas if you would like to apply your donation to a particular aspect of our work – it might be you are interested in our work with young people, how you might offer free or discount tickets to schools and youth groups or help commission our next panto or musical.
