The Empire has a lift to all levels of the theatre auditorium.
Stalls and Dress Circle
The entrance to the Stalls and Dress Circle is located at the front of the theatre on Mare Street.
There are six Wheelchair spaces located at the rear of the Stalls. There is level access to the seats in the Front Stalls. We recommend wheelchair users arrive 45 minutes before show starts.
There is level access via the Lift to Boxes J, K, L and N in the Dress Circle. All other seats and boxes are accessed by three or more steps.
Upper Circle and Gallery
The entrances to the Upper Circle Gallery are located at the side of the theatre on Town Hall Square.
The Upper Circle is located on the second floor of the theatre. There are 53 steps from Ground floor to the Upper Circle. All seats are accessed by one or more steps. There are handrails on the walls of the theatre, but no handrail in the central aisle.
The Gallery is located on the third floor of the theatre. There are 87 steps from Ground floor to the Gallery. All seats are accessed by one or more steps. There are handrails on the walls of the theatre and in the central aisles.
If you require assistance to any of the seating levels please inform the Box Office when making your booking or contact a member of the Front of House team on your arrival to the theatre. If you wish to use the lift a member of the team will escort you to the appropriate level of the auditorium.
Assistance dogs: please ask box office at point of booking. Dogs may be taken to aisle seats or looked after by a member of the front of house staff.
Backstage Areas: The backstage areas of the theatre are fully accessible.
Infrared Hearing Loop System
The Empire has an Infrared Hearing Loop System installed in the Stalls and Dress Circle. Headsets are available to Patrons. Please ask a member of the Front of House for assistance.
