Living Under One Roof

It's almost 60 years since the Empire Windrush landed at Tilbury Docks! Tuareg Productions in partnership with the Hackney Empire would like to invite Elders from the Carribean community to share their experiences in arriving, living and working in Hackney and surrounding areas from 1948 to 1962.

 

This project takes a unique look at Hackney and surrounding areas through the eyes of the Carribean settlers, in particular focusing on their experiences of, and contributions to the local industries of the time. In addition, the project with also explore living arrangments, education, places of worship and recreation.

Come along for FREE afternoon tea and oral history workshops at the Marie Lloyd Bar.

The workshops will be recorded and filmed by students from Hackney schools for use as research for the next stage production of Living Under One Roof by Lorna Holder.
