Murcof & Simon Geilfus, AntiVJ (Live AV), The Field (Live), Byetone (Live AV)
Alpha-ville presents a special evening exploring the relationship between electronic music and visual performance.

The event includes the London premiere of the collaboration between Murcof & Simon Geilfus (AntiVJ) alongside an intimate live solo by The Field and a full audio-visual experience by Raster Noton's label co-owner Byetone.

MURCOF + SIMON GEILFUS - ANTIVJ (Live AV, London premiere)
A collaboration between Mexican electronic musician Murcof and French visual collective AntiVJ. Using semi-transparent and panoramic screens, this live audiovisual show is a monolithic collaboration that allows an immersive experience in which microscopic particles, geometric grids and organic elements are mapped in 3D perspective.

Murcof is the acclaimed project of electronic composer Fernando Corona. His music is epic, sparse, minimalist electronica, founded on abstract, glitchy, sometimes complex electronic percussion. He draws on minimalism, postmodernism and baroque to create music that moves the mind and heart. Murcof has released 3 critically acclaimed albums and an EP on The Leaf Label. He has performed internationally and at festivals such as Sonar, Mutek and TodaysArt.

AntiVJ is a visual label, initiated by a group of European-based artists whose work is focused on the use of projected light and its influence on perception. Clearly stepping away from standard set-ups and techniques, AntiVJ presents live performances and installations to challenge the senses featuring video-mapping, tracking, stereoscopy and holographic illusions.

Live music: Murcof
Live visuals & software development: Simon Geilfus (AntiVJ)
Stage design: Joanie Lemercier (AntiVJ)

Swedish Axel Willner may live in Berlin but part of his heart still resides in Cologne with Kompakt. His debut album with the label, From Here We Go Sublime as The Field, ended being a self-fulfilling prophecy, catapulting him into the German techno stratosphere with all his dancefloor cohorts admiring the emotional engagement of his tracks and the subtle ambience of his rhythms.

For Alpha-ville 2012 Axel will present his second solo performance in four years. This intimate show, originally performed in a church in Oslo as part of the by:Larm Festival, will resonate with all fans of The Fieldís contributions to Kompaktís Pop Ambient series.

Olaf Bender aka Byetone is a music producer and visual artist that runs the German label Raster-Noton alongside Carsten Nicolai (Alva Noto) and Frank Bretschneider. His work is known for its sharp sense of aesthetics, pioneering audiovisual works with clicks and cuts. Byetone ́s live-sets are rather aiming towards the club imbued with archaic beats, feedbacks associated to guitars and extreme frequencies. He creates a hypnotic trip by combining sound and real-time visualizations which should act as light effects and abstract logos. It ́s a dynamic work of art that overcomes the traditional difficulties of performing electronic music for a live audience.

Byetone creates his music digitally, using sine waves to weave a complex sonic fabric, accented by clicks and effects, taking the listener to an alternate sonic reality, where the rules of the physical world are forgotten.

Doors open at 7pm, performance starts at 8pm - don't be late.
