Are you aged 16-25 and interested in a career in comedy/stand up?

Been told you're funny, or maybe you know you’re funny and just need some extra steps, knowledge and structure before stepping up to the mic? Comedy Corner is the perfect project for you.

When:

  • Mon 16 Feb, 12 - 6pm
  • Wed 18 Feb, 12 - 6pm
  • Fri 20 Feb, 2- 8pm

Where: Hackney Empire

How much: Free for 16 - 25-year-olds

Over three workshops you’ll learn the fundamentals of what makes an interesting stand up set, explore storytelling using humor, and develop your toolkit in performance. By the end of the series, you’ll have written a short 2-3 minute set you can start testing out at open mic nights.

You’ll gain skills in:

  • The structure and process of stand up comedy.
  • Learning how to write a short story-based set.
  • Develop your stagecraft and audience awareness.
  • Meet with industry professionals.

The programme will culminate in an informal sharing for you to gain feedback. There is also a taster workshop in collaboration with BBC 1Xtra Comedy Gala with Eddie Kadi and Friends that you can attend on Sun 1 Feb.
